From 1994 to 1998, the company produced the 1.8-liter Ford RKB or 1.8 Zetec 16v engine, which was fitted to all bodies of the first and second generations of the well-known Mondeo model. The Escort had a comparable power unit installed, but it was only listed under its own RKC index.

The Zetec family also includes engines: L1E, L1N, EYDC, RKB, NGA, EYDB, EDDB and EDDC.
The engine was installed on:
- Ford Mondeo Mk1 in 1994 – 1996;
- Ford Mondeo Mk2 in 1996 – 1998.

Disadvantages of the Ford RKB engine
A clogged fuel tank filter is the cause of recurring traction failures;
The fuel pump may need to be replaced if you neglect this for an extended period of time.
Keep an eye on the timing belt’s condition because it frequently loses the previously stated 120,000 kilometers;
The front or rear crankshaft oil seal is typically the cause of grease leaks;
High-quality oil is necessary for the motor, or hydraulic lifters will soon break down.
