From 2010 to 2018, the basic third-generation Focus and the C-Max compact van were equipped with the 1.6-liter Ford XTDA or 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT 85 horsepower engine. On European models, such a unit is widely available. The SIM 29 control system, small size, robust design made of long-lasting, high-quality materials, and low weight are all significant benefits of XTDA.

DURATEC Ti-VCT family:
1.5 L – UEJB;
1.6 L – IQDB, HXDA, PNBA, PNDA, SIDA, XTDA.
The engine was installed on:
- Ford C-Max Mk2 in 2010 – 2018;
- Ford Focus Mk3 in 2011 – 2018.

Disadvantages of the XTDA engine
Leaks from the phase control system’s valves were common during the early years of production;
Additionally, this engine cannot handle poor fuel, which causes candles and coils to quickly lose their usefulness;
Here, attachments and a catalyst do not distinguish the highest resource;
The European version’s Duratec Sigma series motors bend the valve when the belt breaks; since there are no hydraulic lifters, make sure the valve clearances are adjusted.
