Produced between 2001 and 2012, the 1.6-liter Ford FYJA or Fusion 1.6 Duratec engine powered the fifth generation Fiesta model and the Fusion compact MPV, which was built around it. This motor was modified with its own FYJB index to meet Euro 3 environmental standards.

The engine was installed on:
- Ford Fiesta Mk5 in 2001 – 2008;
- Ford Fusion Mk1 in 2002 – 2012.

Disadvantages of the FYJA engine
This series’ power units are very dependable, but they need premium gasoline;
Low-quality fuel can shorten candles’ lifespan by up to 10,000 kilometers;
An expensive gas pump frequently fails for precisely the same reason;
When the timing belt breaks, European versions of Duratec motors always bend the valves;
There are no hydraulic lifters, and the valve clearance needs to be adjusted every 100,000 kilometers.
