Only the third generation of the Mondeo model had the 2.0-liter Ford D6BA engine, also known as the 2.0 TDDi Duratorq DI, installed prior to its initial restyling. The engine was manufactured between 2000 and 2002. After two years on the market, this diesel engine was replaced by a Common Rail unit.

The Duratorq-DI line also includes internal combustion engines: D3FA, D5BA and FXFA.
The engine was installed on:
- Ford Mondeo Mk3 in 2000 – 2002.

Disadvantages of the D6BA engine
Although this engine is highly maintainable, servicemen believe it is not very dependable;
The Bosch VP-44 fuel pump frequently drives chips due to its fear of diesel fuel impurities; wear products quickly clog the nozzles, resulting in frequent thrust failures;
In reality, a strong double-row timing chain lasts between 100,000 and 150,000 kilometers. At 200,000 kilometers, the head breaks in the connecting rods, causing the engine to knock.
